AnchorBot Terms of Service

Terms of Service

Last updated September 3, 2026

1. Accepting these Terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and NotDotRae, the independent developer and operator of AnchorBot (“AnchorBot,” the “Operator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of the AnchorBot Discord application, bot, website at anchor.rae.onl, and related features, communications, and services (collectively, the “Service”).

By installing, authorizing, accessing, invoking, or otherwise interacting with the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service for an organization or Discord server, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization or server to these Terms.

2. What the Service does

AnchorBot is a Discord utility bot designed to keep administrator-configured messages visible in channels. Depending on the enabled version and features, it may also provide embedded or webhook-based pinned messages, polls, server or user information, configuration commands, and related moderation or utility tools.

AnchorBot does not create a separate user account for you. Your Discord account and server permissions govern your access. The Service is currently offered without charge. We may add, remove, limit, or separately price features in the future, but additional payment terms will be presented before any charge is incurred.

3. Eligibility and minors

You must be at least 13 years old and meet the minimum age required to use Discord in your country. The Service is not directed to children below that age. If you have not reached the age of legal majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use.

You may not use the Service if applicable law prohibits you from doing so or if Discord has suspended or terminated your access to its platform.

4. Installation, authority, and permissions

Only a person with appropriate Discord authority may install or configure AnchorBot in a server or channel. If you install or administer the Service, you are responsible for:

  • obtaining any permissions, notices, or consents required from the server owner, administrators, moderators, or members;
  • granting only the Discord permissions reasonably needed for the features you choose to use;
  • reviewing and moderating configured content and the bot’s output;
  • keeping webhook URLs, tokens, and other credentials confidential; and
  • removing the bot or disabling a feature when continued operation is no longer authorized.

Some features require permission to view channels, read message history, receive message content or reactions, send messages, manage or delete the bot’s prior messages, use external emojis, or use webhooks. Discord displays requested permissions during authorization. You may revoke permissions through Discord, although doing so may disable features.

Webhook safety. A Discord webhook URL contains a credential capable of posting to its channel. Share one with AnchorBot only if you are authorized to use it. Never place a webhook URL in ordinary chat, support messages, or public content. Rotate it in Discord immediately if you believe it has been exposed.

5. Your content

“Your Content” means text, links, image URLs, embed content, poll options, commands, and other material you or your server submit to or configure through the Service. You retain your rights in Your Content and remain responsible for its legality, accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness.

You grant the Operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, limited license to host, copy, transmit, format, display, and otherwise process Your Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service. This license includes permitting infrastructure providers to process Your Content for those purposes. It ends when the content is deleted from active systems, subject to reasonable backup cycles, legal obligations, and content that remains on Discord under Discord’s controls.

You represent that you have all rights and permissions needed to submit Your Content and allow this processing. Do not submit private personal information, regulated data, access credentials, payment data, health information, or other sensitive material as pinned content.

6. Acceptable use

You must comply with applicable law, these Terms, the rules of each Discord server, and Discord’s terms, policies, and Community Guidelines. You may not use or help others use the Service to:

  • post or facilitate illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, harassing, hateful, exploitative, or unlawfully discriminatory content or conduct;
  • infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or other rights;
  • publish another person’s sensitive or private information without authorization;
  • distribute malware, destructive code, credential theft, scams, spam, unsolicited promotions, or unauthorized political messaging;
  • sexualize minors, distribute child sexual abuse material, groom or endanger a minor, or expose a minor to age-restricted content;
  • impersonate a person or entity or misrepresent an affiliation, including with AnchorBot or Discord;
  • bypass permissions, security controls, rate limits, platform safeguards, or feature restrictions;
  • probe, scan, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or exploit the Service except to the extent a restriction is prohibited by law or authorized in writing;
  • scrape, profile, track, or compile information about Discord users, or use Discord data for advertising, eligibility decisions, surveillance, or discrimination; or
  • use Discord message content obtained through the Service to train an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model.

We may remove content, disable features, limit usage, or report conduct when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service, third parties, or platform integrity.

7. AnchorBot materials and open source

The Service’s branding, original design, documentation, and non-open-source materials are owned by or licensed to the Operator and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive right to use the Service for its intended purpose.

Some AnchorBot source code derives from or incorporates third-party open-source software. That software remains governed by its applicable license notices, including the Apache License 2.0 where identified. These Terms do not limit rights granted by an applicable open-source license. They govern the hosted Service, not independent use of separately licensed source code.

8. Third-party platforms and services

The Service interoperates with third parties, including Discord, Convex, Vercel, and, if enabled, top.gg. We do not own or control those services. Their terms and privacy policies govern your direct relationship with them, and their availability, decisions, or failures may affect AnchorBot.

Links, API results, user content, and third-party services are provided for convenience or functionality. We do not warrant or endorse third-party content and are not responsible for its accuracy, safety, availability, or practices. Discord may suspend the bot, limit API access, change permissions, or remove content under its own rules.

9. Service availability and changes

We may modify, update, suspend, rate-limit, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Outages, bugs, delayed messages, duplicate messages, permission errors, data loss, and third-party interruptions may occur. Do not rely on AnchorBot for emergency communications, legal notices, safety-critical operations, record preservation, or any purpose where failure could cause material harm.

We may release beta, preview, or experimental features. They may be incomplete, change without notice, and receive reduced support.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by disabling its features, revoking its permissions, or removing AnchorBot from your Discord server. Removal may not itself delete every stored configuration record; see the retention section and submit a deletion request when needed.

We may suspend or terminate access immediately if you violate these Terms, create legal or security risk, abuse the Service, or if Discord or another provider requires us to do so. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive, including ownership, disclaimers, limits on liability, and indemnity, will survive.

11. Copyright concerns

If you believe content processed or displayed by AnchorBot infringes your copyright, email Rae@rae.onl with identification of the work, the challenged material and its Discord location, your contact information, a good-faith statement, an accuracy-and-authority statement, and your physical or electronic signature. We may remove or disable challenged material and may act against repeat infringers where appropriate.

Do not knowingly make a false claim. This process does not represent that AnchorBot has designated an agent under any particular safe-harbor regime.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and all content made available through it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties or representations of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. We disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, accuracy, and availability.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, compatible with every server configuration, or that content will not be lost, duplicated, delayed, altered, or removed. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Limitation of liability and indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages; loss of profits, goodwill, use, or data; server disruption; or the cost of substitute services arising from or related to the Service, even if advised that such damage is possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator’s aggregate liability for all claims arising from or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid the Operator for the Service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to liability or (b) US $100. These limits apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Operator from third-party claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and reasonable costs arising from Your Content, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms, applicable law, or another person’s rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from the Operator’s own unlawful conduct and does not limit non-waivable consumer rights.

14. General terms

Governing law and forum

Except where the law where you live requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in a state or federal court with competent jurisdiction in Virginia, and each party consents to that court’s jurisdiction. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using an eligible small-claims process.

Changes

We may revise these Terms. Material changes become effective 30 days after posting unless a change is required sooner for law, security, platform rules, or a new feature, in which case it may take effect when posted. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Continued use after the effective date of a revision means you accept it.

Entire agreement; severability; no waiver

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, transfer, or change in operation of the Service, subject to applicable law.

Feedback

If you voluntarily provide ideas or suggestions, you grant the Operator a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use them without restriction or compensation. Do not submit confidential information as feedback.
